Website Development

Website development is an industry term that normally encompasses both design and programming, but in this context refers only to the development of the software that powers the website.

Animation, such as drop down menus, sliding text, and fade effects are all done in software (JavaScript). Interactions between the client (the browser on your computer) and the server (the computer where the files for the website are located) are also done through software (PHP and AJAX). Finally, functionality that requires the storage and retrieval of data and the rendering of dynamic pages, such as user profiles, is done through languages such as PHP and MySQL.
